The Commanding Officer of the Range Company is Captain Walter M. Raines.

Captain Raines, Walter M. is currently serving with Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

Captain Raines was born on 7 July 1971 in Cumming, Georgia. Upon graduation from Forsyth County High School in Cumming, Georgia Captain Raines attended Kennesaw State University before transferring to Auburn University.  In December 1993 Captain Raines graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Aviation Management.

After graduation from college Captain Raines owned and operated a landscape nursery business in Georgia before enlisting into the Marine Corps in 2004.  After boot camp at Parris Island, PFC Raines was trained as a Flight Equipment Marine at NAS Pensacola where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.  Assigned to the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39 (MALS-39), Marine Air Group 39 (MAG-39), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Camp Pendleton, California.  While stationed here Lance Corporal Raines was accepted to the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP).

In June 2006 Second Lieutenant Raines graduated from The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia. Immediately following graduation Second Lieutenant Raines was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 (MALS-31), Marine Air Group 31 (MAG-31), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Beaufort, South Carolina.

After completing the Aviation Supply Basic Officer Course in Athens, GA in December 2006, Second Lieutenant Raines returned to MALS-31 where he was assigned as the Squadron Support Division Officer-in-Charge.  In July 2007, he was assigned to be the Officer-in-Charge of an additional division, Supply Accounting Division.  During this time he was promoted to First Lieutenant in December 2007.  In June 2008, he was assigned as the Officer-in-Charge of the Consumable Management Division and the Squadron Support Division within the Aviation Supply Department.

In July 2009 Captain Raines checked into Weapons and Field Training Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, SC.  Captain Raines was promoted to his current rank in January 2010.  Presently Captain Raines holds the billet as the Range Company Commander.
