The Recruit Training Regiment (RTR) is led by Colonel Robert W. Jones and Sergeant Major James K. Porterfield.

RTR comprises five battalions as well as the Drill Instructor school. RTR is the headquarters for all administrative and command functions concerning the basic training of recruits.

It is the Recruit Training Regiment that implements the standards established by the Commandant of the Marine Corps to train, teach, mentor and above all lead recruits through a demanding standard-based training system.
