On behalf of the commanding general, Brig. Gen. L. E. Reynolds, congratulations on your selection to attend Drill Instructor School and for the opportunity to set the initial and external standard for today’s young men and women seeking to earn the title Marine.

You are about to embark upon life changing journey that will challenge you both mentally and physically. Drill Instructor School is a rigorous 11-week evolution that will tax your body and your mind. Physical and mental preparation is key to your success in such a demanding environment. Through the constant reinforcement of values based training and our shared legacy, you will develop the leadership, command presence, instructional abilities, physical conditioning, and knowledge needed to successfully perform the duties of a Drill Instructor.

This task will not be easy. You will be challenged in every aspect of training and will be required to put forth your best effort at all times. Only those Marines that demonstrate commitment and embody our warrior ethos will graduate the school and earn the right to wear the Campaign Cover.

You have already distinguished yourselves from your peers. However, your distinguishing actions and characteristics have only earned you the opportunity to embark upon this demanding journey.

My staff and I welcome you and again congratulate you on your selection to Drill Instructor School.

Semper Fidelis,
Director, Drill Instructor School
