Captain Jeffrey P. Sparrow

Capt. Jeffrey P. Sparrow was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduating from Colby College, in Waterville, Maine, he attended Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Va., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant on Dec. 16, 2005. In 2006, he attended The Basic School, and in July 2006, he attended the Basic Communications Officer Course in Quantico.
In January 2007, 2nd Lt. Sparrow reported to 7th Communication Battalion in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the officer-in-charge of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Network Operations Center, commander of a forward deployed communication center platoon, and Headquarters Company commander. While serving as platoon commander, 1st Lt. Sparrow deployed to Korat, Thailand, in support of exercise Cobra Gold 2008 and Operation Caring Response, supporting tropical cyclone humanitarian relief in Burma.
In January 2009, Sparrow reported to Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, where he served as computer information systems officer and deputy assistant chief of staff for the depot communications department.
Capt. Sparrow was promoted to his current rank in January 2010, and in May 2010, he was transferred to Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as series commander and company executive officer.
In November 2011, Capt. Sparrow assumed command of Service Company.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. |
