Sergeant Sean M. Walker

First Sergeant Sean M. Walker was born in
Syracuse, NY enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1991 and completed
recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. After
completing the Basic Metal Working Course, he was assigned the MOS 1316
Basic Metal worker.
In September 1991, Private First Class Walker reported to Marine
Barracks Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he served through September 1992.
During this tour Lance Corporal Walker participated in JTF Guantanamo and
deployed numerous times aboard US Coast Guard vessels repatriating Haitian
refugees in support of the JTF.
In October 1992, Lance Corporal Walker reported to Marine Security
Guard Bn for training and upon completion was assigned to MSG Detachment,
Katmandu, Nepal for duty as a watch stander, during this assignment was
promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Walker participated in the
United States disaster relief efforts in support of the Nepalese government.
In May of 1994 Corporal Walker reported to MSG Detachment, Belgrade,
Yugoslavia and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In May 1995, Sergeant Walker reported to Sub Unit 1, 3d Marine
Division, Camp Fuji Japan, where he served as the Heavy Equipment Chief and
Platoon Sergeant.
In October 1996, Sergeant Walker reported to MWSS 273, MCAS
Beaufort, SC for duty. While there he assumed the role of Platoon
Sergeant, Maintenance Platoon. In June 1997 Sergeant Walker was
assigned to the MCAS Beaufort Corporal’s Course performing the duties as a
Squad Instructor/Advisor, Chief Instructor and Assistant NCOIC.
In January 1999, Sergeant Walker reported to Drill Instructor
School, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. He served as Drill
Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor with Co C and D and Co C Operations
Chief in the 1st Recruit Training Bn. In November of 2000 Sergeant
Walker was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In May of 2002 Staff Sergeant Walker was assigned to 2d Light
Armored Reconnaissance Bn, 2d Marine Division as the Bn Metal Shop Chief and
Bn Maintenance Platoon Sergeant. In Feb 2003 Staff Sergeant Walker
deployed in support of I MEF in combat operations, Iraq. In March of
2004 Staff Sergeant Walker was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
In April 2004 Gunnery Sergeant Walker received orders to 8th
Engineer Support Bn, 2nd FSSG where he performed the duties of
Heavy Equipment Platoon SNCOIC, Engineer Support Co Operations Chief and Bn
S4 Chief. In February 2005 Gunnery Sergeant Walker deployed in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06. Gunnery Sergeant Walker also
completed the Army Basic Parachutist Course in March 2006.
On 12 May 2007 First Sergeant Walker was frocked to his present
grade and was subsequently assigned to 8th Communications Bn for
duty as Headquarters Co First Sergeant.
In Sept 2007 First Sergeant Walker reported to 3d Marine Regiment,
3d Marine Division for duty as the Combat Assault Co First Sergeant.
In May 2009 First Sergeant Walker deployed in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom with SPMAGTF-A and RCT-3.
In July 2010 First Sergeant Walker reported to 3d Recruit Training
Bn, Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD, Parris Island for duty as Co K and
subsequently Co M First Sergeant.
April 2012 First Sergeant Walker assumed the role Service Co
1stSgt, Headquarters and Service Bn, MCRD Parris Island.
First Sergeant is married to the former Julie Martin of Rum Gully,
SC
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation
Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps
Achievement Medal with four gold stars, the Combat Action Ribbon and the
Good Conduct Medal 6th award. First Sergeant Walker is authorized
to wear the Basic Parachutist Insignia.
