Sergeant Major Jerry Daniels, Jr. SgtMaj.

Daniels was born October 10,1962 in Camden, N.J. Joining the Marine Corps in August of 1980, he was placed in the delayed entry program 11 months prior to his graduation from Woodbury High School in 1981. Upon completion of recruit training, PFC Daniels (Meritorious) was sent to NAS, Millington, Tn., for Aviation Electronics School. In June of 1982 he was sent to MCAS, El Toro, Ca. were he was assigned to VMA 311 and augmented to H&MS-13 for duty as an IMA Electronics Technician.

In January of 1985, Corporal Daniels was assigned to H&S Company, Aviation Weapons Training Unit. There he served as the Cpl and Sgt of the Guard. Cpl Daniels returned to H&MS-13 and completed his third deployment with VMA-311. Upon return from WestPac in 1988, Sgt. Daniels was reassigned to MALS-16 MCAS (H) Tustin. There he performed the duties as a Search and Rescue Medical Computer Technician.

In march of 1989 he was sent back to El Toro as an Instructor at NAMTRADET 1100 to teach Intermediate Level Electronics Course. In 1991 he was reassigned to NAS Kingsville, Tx. as an Advance Electronics Instructor were he later received his Master Training Specialist Designation and the 1992 Instructor of the Year Award.
Promoted to Staff Sergeant in October of 1993, he received orders to MCRD Parris Island DI Class 02-94. Upon graduation SSgt Daniels was assigned to Second Bn., Golf Company. While working there he performed the duties as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Series Chief Drill Instructor.

In August of 1996 SSgt. Daniels was transferred to NAS, Pensacola, Fl., for Instructor Duty at the Electronics Basic School. There he served as Instructor, Course Supervisor and Senior Marine for the Electronics School. In May of 1999 Gunnery Sergeant Daniels was selected for duty as an Assistant Marine Officer Instructor. May of 2000 Duty at Old Dominion University, Norfolk State, and Hampton University.

Upon being selected for 1st Sergeant in 2002 he was reassigned for duty with 1st Bn, 8th Marines as Company 1stSgt of Weapons Company. 1st Sgt Daniels was later assigned to Bravo Company while deploying with the 26 MEU to Albania, Iraqi (OIF I), JTF HOA, UAE and Liberia. During Operation Iraqi Freedom II, 1stSgt. Daniels served in Weapons Company in Haditha, and Fallujah.

1stSgt. Daniels in April of 2005 was assigned to Marine Corps Engineer School as the Combat Engineer Instruction Company First Sergeant. In May of 2005 he was assigned as the 1stSgt for Headquarters and Service Company.

Promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major on 1 January 2007, and was assigned as the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. February 12, 2008, Sergeant Major Daniels was assigned as the 1st Recruit Training Battalion Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island , S.C.
