The Child Development Center (CDC) offers quality full-day, part-day, and hourly care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. These programs, staffed by trained caregivers must meet the accreditation standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. All USMC CDC’s comply with DoD standards for staff qualifications, program quality, safety, sanitation, and nutrition. Parents attending some special events may receive care for their children up to 12 years of age.
Family Child Care (FCC) is located in the provider’s home and offers full-day, part-day, extended-day and hourly care for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. FCC homes on base are certified by the installation. Prior to certification, all providers and their family members must pass a series of background checks and a comprehensive training program. A list of providers can be obtained by the Resource and Referral Specialist.
School-Age Care (SAC) is available for children enrolled in elementary school, generally kindergarten through grade 6. These Planned and supervised programs are provided in Family Child Care homes, Youth Centers, or other appropriate facilities, both on and off the base. SAC is offered before and after school and during most school holidays and vacation periods.
Short Term Alternative Child Care (STACC) is an option which provides care on occasional rather than a daily basis and allows on-site hourly group care when parents of children in care are attending command functions in the same facility.
Child Care in a Unit Setting (CCUS) offers organizations and activities the opportunity to provide safe, flexible, low or no cost options to meet child care requirements. CCUS allows the unit to provide on-site hourly group child care when parents of the children in care are attending a unit function on the same site.
Youth Activities: A variety of leisure time activities are available through our installation program:
- Open recreation table games (i.e., pool tables, ping-pong) video games, etc.
- Computer labs are available to assist with homework assignments and expansion of computer skills.
- Social and life skill development classes such as dances, field trips, pizza parties, teen councils, teen meetings, etc.
The Marine Corps’ national affiliation with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America expands youth and teen development program opportunities. The affiliation provides programs, materials and services that address health, social, education, vocational, character development and guidance.
Teen Activities are available to develop physical, social, emotional and cognitive abilities while experiencing achievement, leadership, enjoyment, friendship and recognition. Installation teen councils afford teens opportunities to let their interests be heard.
The Sports Programs provide quality year round activities for boys and girls ages 6-18 years old. These programs offer continuity and sport diversity to meet the needs and interest of youth and teens. Programs such as soccer, baseball, and basketball, and basketball are offered appropriate to age levels. These programs help youth and teens achieve and maintain fitness, acquire a broad range of physical skills, develop a sense of teamwork, cooperation and fairness that lead to healthy active lifestyles.
