Gunnery Sergeant Jayme D. Dalberg
Small Ensemble Leader
Jayme D. Dalberg is a native of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 14, 1992 and attended Marine Corps Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif. In August 1993, after graduation from the Basic Course at the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, Va., Lance Corporal Dalberg was assigned as a Euphonium instrumentalist with the Marine Forces Reserve Band in New Orleans, La. Aside from his musical duties, he also filled the billets of Low Brass Section Leader and Sound-Audio Engineer. Corporal Dalberg was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in June 1997 and shortly after attended the resident Sergeant’s Course at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
In September 1997, Sergeant Dalberg was transferred to the Marine Forces Pacific Band in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii for duties as a Euphonium instrumentalist. He was also assigned as the Platoon Sergeant, Administration Chief and Assistant Drum Major. In December 2001, Sgt. Dalberg was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and made a lateral move to bass guitar instrumentalist. Staff Sgt. Dalberg was selected as a Small Ensemble Leader in 2002 and served as the Small Ensemble Leader with the Marine Forces Pacific Band. Staff Sgt. Dalberg was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in March 2003.
Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg was assigned to the Armed Forces School of music on January 8, 2004 to attend the Unit Leader’s Course. Upon graduation, Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg was assigned to the Marine Detachment, Armed Forces School of Music for duty as the Platoon Sergeant and Operations Chief.
Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg transferred to the 1st Marine Division Band in July 2005 for duty as the band’s Small Ensemble Leader. On July 27, 2006 Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg assumed duties as the Headquarters Company Gunnery Sergeant for Regimental Combat Team – 5 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07. While in Iraq, Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant, Company 1stSgt, Camp Commandant and Vehicle Commander.
Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg returned to the band in January 2007 and is currently serving as the Small Ensemble Leader with the Parris Island Marine Band, Parris Island, S.C.
Gunnery Sgt. Dalberg’s awards include the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Citation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (fourth award), National Defense Service Medal (second award), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment ribbon.
