Staff Sergeant Andrew Rudd
Enlisted Conductor


Originally from Grand Ledge, MI, Staff Sergeant Andrew J. Rudd enlisted in United States Marine Corps in September 2004 as a trombonist. Upon successful completion of recruit training in Parris Island, SC, and Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger, NC, he proceeded to Armed Forces School of Music in Littlecreek, VA for instruction under the Basic Music Course and graduated as an accelerated graduate.


Staff Sergeant Rudd was then assigned to the 3D Marine Aircraft Wing Band in San Diego, CA where he served as a trombonist in the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band and Brass Quintet. Among his duties were Training Chief, Library Chief and the Public Affairs Chief, additionally Staff Sergeant Rudd served as the Brass Group Leader . While Stationed in San Diego, Staff Sergeant Rudd was involved in recruiting tours across the United States with the Brass Quintet.


In 2008 SSgt Rudd received orders to Parris Island, SC and quickly became active in several areas including Supply Chief, Public Affairs Chief, Brass Group Leader, coach for the Brass Quintet, and in 2010 was assigned as the Band’s Acting Enlisted Conductor. While stationed at Parris Island, Staff Sergeant Rudd has been involved in many recruiting tours across the nation, and in 2009 Staff Sergeant Rudd was selected to perform with the first Marine Composite All-Star Jazz Band.


Currently Staff Sergeant Rudd serves as The Parris Island Marine Band’s Enlisted Conductor, and actively participates in volunteer musical activities throughout the local community. Staff Sergeant Rudd’s personal decorations are the Good Conduct Medal, bronze star in lieu of second award and the National Defense Medal.
